Formidable flights

Sam Peddar (pictured), chief instructor with Air India, who flew the holy fire from Aden to Bombay in the 1970s passed away in London on April 22, 2017, exactly five years to the day he had a stroke. A pilot with the Royal Indian Air Force during the early 1940s, along with the Engineer brothers he saw action in the then North West Frontier Provinces and  Burma. Later he and Jangoo Engineer opted for Air India. He willed his body to the London Anatomy Office for medical research. As per his wishes, there was no funeral. Donations in his memory could be made to Oxfam, Greenpeace (UK or India) or to the Bhopal Medical Fund (https://bhopal.org/). The latter is the only charity providing free medical aid to the tens of thousands of victims of the Union Carbide gas leak.              RUSI SORABJI California rustam@sorabji.org  ...
