Dadabhai remembered

In addition to the customary garlanding of the statue of Dadabhai Naoroji on June 30, 2017, the 100th death anniversary of the Grand Old Man of India was marked with a jashan ceremony organized by The Bombay Parsee Association (BPA) at the Banaji Atash Behram in Bombay.  BPA president Vispi Dastur led the garlanding in the morning, followed by a host of other organizations including the Bombay Municipal Corporation. A few other organizations represented were Iran League, Navsari Parsi Association, World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis, Cowasjee Dinshaw Trust, Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture, Rahnumae Mazdayasnan Sabha, Athornan Mandal and Bombay Panjrapole. After a short prayer in memory of Naoroji led by Ervad Asphandiar Dadachanji, a two-minute silence was observed by those present. The Rahnumae Mazdayasnan Sabha jointly with Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) organized an elocution competition on "Dadabhai Naoroji — A role model,” on the same day at the Banaji Atash Behram.      Attendees near Dr Dadabhai Naoroji’s statue; inset: Vispi Dastur pays respects Photos: Jasmine D.
