Advocate Riyaz Chagla (pictured) whose forte is company law and civil litigation, was one of 14 new judges appointed to the Bombay High Court (BHC). The 47-year-old jurist practised in the BHC for over 23 years and also appeared in the Supreme Court. He was appointed on the Union Panel in November 2009 and represented the Central Government in several cases. Chagla was appointed on the State Government Panel in September 2013. As a lawyer he has appeared in civil, constitutional, commercial, corporate, intellectual property, taxation and testamentary cases and also acted as an arbitrator.
