“A navjote in Delhi”

It is heartening to see so many educated and logical Parsis using their vohu mana (good mind) in the matter of the navjote of Chaitanya Kersi Jaikaria, grandson of former president of the Delhi Parsi Anjuman and current member of the National Commission for Minorities Dadi Mistry and his wife Nergish ("A navjote in Delhi,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, January 7, 2017). Our community has numerous legal luminaries. Does no one have the gumption or see the need to challenge the archaic Petit vs Jeejeebhoy judgment of 1908 and rewrite what their vohu mana dictates? This is 2017. Let’s change with the times and not be ostriches, or worse, be spoken of as male chauvinist pigs.             H. J. IRANI hjirani@gmail.com ...
