Bombay Parsi Punchayet's support for new secular hospital project at The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital

At a joint meeting of all the trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) and the chairman and office bearers of The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital on January 2, 2018, it was unanimously resolved that the trustees of the BPP "unequivocally, firmly and wholeheartedly" support the new secular hospital project being undertaken by the Hospital, reads a joint press release dated January 4 from the BPP and the Hospital.

The meeting also expressed their gratitude to Pervin and Jal Shroff of Hong Kong for their "munificent pledge" to donate USD 22.5 million for the Hospital for the new secular hospital building, which will be operated by the Dr Naresh Trehan-led Medanta Group.

Both parties (BPP and the Hospital) "strongly believe that the latest health care and financial benefits" emanating from the project will "support the continued operations of the Hospital and ensure sustainable and integrated medical facilities for the poor and indigent members of the Parsi Zoroastrian community for years to come," notes the press release.

The note confirms that the existing Hospital and the new secular hospital (the new building and the land on which it is constructed) "shall remain at all times the exclusive property of The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital."
