No-fly zone at Bombay Doongerwadi



"The full board of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) met Mr. Saxena and Mr. Joshi of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on October 9 from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm to discuss” limiting the no-fly zone over Doongerwadi, according to BPP trustee Noshir Dadrawala.

"Akshay Varang from the Collector’s office was also present. Dastur Dr. Firoze Kotwal, Dastur Khurshed Dastur and Ervad Parvez Bajan as also Squadron Leader Minoo Wadia were present at the meeting on the BPP's request.

"The meeting was cordial. The trustees have requested for more time but in the interim they have requested AAI to maintain status quo as any change would deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the community.”

According to newspaper reports the government wants to limit the no fly zone from one mile to 500 meters for emergency operations.
