I am a doctoral student at the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, University of Minnesota, USA. My research examines the effect of neighborhood environments on blood pressure (BP) in resident populations. I am doing a study on the Parsi population. The research will include examining 1,500 Parsis across Greater Bombay.
Of the 1,500 people, 500 will be residents of Parsi baugs with facilities of a club and open space, 500 will be residents in exclusive Parsi buildings, and 500 in cosmopolitan housing with or without various facilities. The study will involve recording BP, height and weight of participants. The study will also involve an objective questionnaire to assess the participants’ risk for high blood pressure and some questions on their neighborhood. All data will be de-identified and pooled results will be published.
This is a sincere request for: participation in this study and to connect me with Parsis who are residents of Greater Bombay, in the age group of 20-50 years, with both parents and all grandparents who are Parsi/ Irani. The whole process will take 15 minutes. I will travel to residence/office destinations, depending on the participants’ convenience.
High or low BP is a disease that occurs with ageing. It is also a risk factor for cardiac diseases. For the promotion of healthy ageing in populations, it is important to study the health of young populations and assess factors that affect their health. The study will help understand neighborhood infrastructures and their impact on health.
