“Talent Sundays”

The Kala Ghoda Association (KGA) has been approached by the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) to "conduct the ‘Talent Sundays’ being held every week (at Rampart Row, outside the Jehangir Art Gallery)... At present, the purpose is to provide exposure to visual artists who can display and sell their artworks,” KGA chairman Maneck Davar told Parsiana on March 20, 2018. "KGA would like to expand the scope to include street entertainment, display and sale of crafts by local artisans, workshops and more,” Davar elaborated. "The whole idea is to create an entertainment and tourist area where families can spend a substantial amount of time on Sundays. The aim is also to continuously attract more people so that the artists and artisans have an audience for their work,” he said. The chairman added that they were in talks with MTDC and BMC and "are awaiting finalization of the arrangements.”

Open Air Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda

KGA will promote the Open Air Art Gallery on Rampart Row, the brainchild of Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray, the Daily News and Analysis (DNA) had reported on March 5. It was launched in October 2016 but faced a lukewarm response from artists and the public. In November 2017, the BMC had roped in MTDC to promote the Gallery, after which it was reopened that month with exhibitions every Sunday.
