“The Aden towers...”

The article "The Aden towers of silence” (Parsiana, September 21-October 6, 2020) recounted the contributions of Merwanji Sorabji Kharegat, one of the first two Parsi inhabitants of Aden, who arrived there circa 1840. Merwanji was an older brother of my great-grandfather, so the story was of great interest to me, more than 180 years later. Later in the same issue you published an excerpt from the recent book by Jenny Rose which mentions a chance meeting in 1848 with "the ‘American agent to Aden,’ another Parsi, named Merwanji Sorabji, who was on his way down to Bombay(from Khandallah).”    Two references to the same gentleman by two completely different authors in one issue of Parsiana! Talk about a coincidence!                  ERACH TARAPORE Lafayette, CA, USA etarapore@gmail.com ...
