A recital by musical ensemble Shoorangiz, specially flown in from Tehran marked the Jashn-e-Navroze function organized by the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran on March 23, 2018. "They enthralled the audience with their soul-stirring performance of Iranian classical and folk music,” states a note received from director Mahdi Zare Bieib. Organized jointly with the Indo-Iranian Friendship Society, the program held at the Culture House’s auditorium included felicitation of the new consul general of Iran in Bombay, Ahmad Sadeghi.

In his welcome speech Bieib remarked about Navroz being a day of rejoicing, rejuvenation and universal brotherhood; Godej Dotivala, secretary general of the Society traced the origins of the festival. Sadeghi drew attention to a special United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) resolution calling on all nations to celebrate Navroz as the festival of spring.
