A patch of green

The Homavazir Garden in the Mancherji Edulji Joshi Parsi Colony in Dadar is to get a patch of green at its center and green shrubbery along its pathways. Activist and granddaughter of the founder of the Colony, Zarine Engineer told Parsiana on January 29, 2018 that the local corporator Amey Gole "who has been very helpful to the residents,” has committed that there were provisions to keep the greenery watered regularly.
According to a report in The Free Press Journal (FPJ) of January 21, the seven lakh rupee project was proposed by Shiv Sena corporator Gole, for people to "sit and can also do yoga and other activities.” The work is expected to be completed in the next three months.
Gole told the newspaper that "The residents of the Colony were complaining that children use the ground for... only sports... They were unable to use the open space... They requested (that) the ground which has mud, be converted into a green lawn. As already there are playgrounds in the vicinity, the suggestion (has) been considered.” Clarifying that the lawn will not stop children from playing games, he was quoted in the report that "the idea is to provide more green cover to the citizens.”
