The following edited extract, reprinted from Memoir of Sir Dinshaw Manockjee Petit, First Baronet (1823-1901), Late Member of the Legislative Council of the Governor-General of India and Pioneer of the Textile Industry in Bombay written by S. M. Edwardes and published in 1923, highlights the life and times of an extraordinary Parsi and his family.
