The Parsi Agiary at Ajmer (pictured) in central Rajasthan was built by the late Naoroji Rustomji Kalyaniwala in 1898 and handed over to the Shri Ajmer Parsi Jarthosti Anjuman for use by the community.
In addition to the Agiary, the Anjuman’s properties include the dakhma (1888), panthaky’s residence (1898), Rustom Framna Block (1911), Sukhia Block (1964), Rati Bai Block (1975) and kathi store (1982). Over the years notable work has been undertaken to maintain these properties.
The 125th anniversary of the Agiary falls on June 19, 2023. Major repairs and maintenance work are required for the Agiary building and boundary wall, the approximate cost of which is Rs 15 lakhs.
Despite dwindling numbers and limited resources, this Anjuman has done its utmost to maintain its properties. Zoroastrian visitors to this holy city (the tomb of the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is in the city — editors) have lauded these efforts which were possible only due to support from within the community for which we are grateful.
We are determined to sustain this Agiary and other properties for many more years to come. We, therefore, appeal to the boards of trustees of various institutions, organizations, anjumans and philanthropic individuals to donate generously for this.
