On March 27, 2019, World Theater Day, Vishwa Rangbhoomi Divas, it was heartening to see actors of yesteryears being honored and felicitated in the auditorium of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) which has launched the careers of many an artiste. The audience demonstrated its affection and respect for these theater doyens of yore. Padma Shri recipient Dinyar Contractor along with others was given a standing ovation on the occasion.

Contractor recalled that Arvind Trivedi, who was the stage manager at BVB for 16 years, was with him in the 1960s and ’70s when he had acted in a play called Padma Shri Pestonji. And today he felt honored to have him seated beside him while he was being felicitated.
Contractor assured the gathering that he was bringing a musical to the stage by the end of the year. "People ask me if I have retired now, but I tell them this is just the interval. I will remain active till the end because I live theater, I breathe theater.”
