It promises to set new benchmarks in luxurious living. At the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2010 — the property industry’s prestigious awards worldwide — the 60-storeyed twin towers at Tardeo in Bombay called The Imperial added three more feathers to the seven they had garnered last year. "This year The Imperial had applied in three categories and won all three awards,” states a press release from Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited. The Imperial was developed by S D Corporation, a joint venture between Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited and The Thacker Group.
"The Imperial has been aptly knighted the ‘best residential building in India’ in the category of best interior design [five-bedroom-hall-kitchen (5 BHK) duplex — 10,105 sq ft], best apartment layout (5 BHK — 3,810 sq ft) and best apartment layout (4 BHK duplex — 4,390 sq ft),” the release adds. Two of the awards obtained a rating of five stars; the third got a ‘highly commended.’ Assessed by an international panel of experts, the judging parameters included quality of design, construction, presentation of individual properties and property developments, interiors, architecture and marketing. This badge of merit from an independent organization makes a development stand out from the competition and enhances its value.

In 2009, The Imperial had won in the categories of best high-rise development, best renovation/redevelopment, best interior design and best apartment layouts for 2, 4 and 5 BHK and duplex apartments. "It was the first time in the history of these prestigious Awards that seven honors were bestowed upon one single development in the same year,” stated the release.

At 253 meters (827 ft), the towers are currently India’s tallest residential buildings. Designed by Hafeez Contractor and constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited, apartments range from 2,500 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft. The interiors have been custom crafted by renowned designers like Pinakin Patel, Neterwala and Aibara of Bombay and Craig Nealy Architects of the US. Flats begin only from the higher floors, providing sweeping views of the Arabian Sea, the greenery of the Mahalaxmi Race Course and the Willingdon Club golf course, as well as the squat structures of old and the multitude of new towers dotting the Bombay skyline. The entrance lobby, itself on an upper floor, has "a ceiling that soars three levels above you, floor in pristine marble, a waterfall hugs a brilliant glass wall,” describes their website www.theimperial.in
