An instrument for testing hearing loss, specially for new born babies in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital will benefit "thousands of premature babies from villages in and around Dharampur,” noted a write-up received from Capt Percy Master, chief project co-ordinator of the Lions Club of Byculla. Procured at a cost of Rs 7,00,000 with funds donated by the Nergesh Khurshedji Dady Public Charitable Trust of which Master is a trustee, August 4, 2018 saw a team of Lions make their way to the Hospital for the inauguration of the equipment.

The 75-bedded charitable Hospital treats premature babies of the disadvantaged absolutely free and employs 28 full-time resident doctors, noted the write-up. Their Shrimad Rajchandra District Early Intervention Centre is the first of its kind in the state, noted the Hospital’s activity report attached with Master’s email. "Enhancing the cognitive abilities of the babies is (a) critically important goal of the Centre,” read the report.
The development manager of the Hospital Aspi Minocher is also a member of the Club. Previously, the Club had donated autoacoustic emission equipment worth Rs 5,10,000 to the Hosptial (see "Lions’ largesse,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, July 21, 2016). Club president Tehmasp Munshi complimented Sharukh Marolia for his efforts in procuring the equipment. District executive chairman Viraf Mistry was present at the function.
