Calcutta’s Adaran is 106

On completing 25 years of service, Ervad Jimmy Taraporwalla (pictured), panthaky of Dhunjeebhoy Byramji Mehta’s Zoroastrian Anjuman Atash Adaran was felicitated with a garland, shawl, pehramni (money envelope) and a silver memento on the fire temple’s 106th salgirah on October 2, 2018, wrote manager Ketty Kapadia in an email to Parsiana. "Srosh roz Ardibehest mah is very special for Calcutta’s Parsi community,” she noted. "Each year on this auspicious day, it is the practice of the Adaran trustees, along with the community members to felicitate a community member who has contributed significantly towards the community,” Kapadia wrote. A jashan marked the anniversary. Community members gathered for a fala-ni (contributory) maachi after the felicitation, and later partook of a "sumptuous gahanbar organized by the Adaran trust.”   ...
