In its new initiative to install a more efficient garbage collection system, the Rustom Baug Association (RBA) plans to construct enclosures to contain dry and wet garbage and build a third gate exclusively for the garbage removal truck to access the area from the main road instead of passing through the colony. Funds for this project were made available through the good offices of Milind Deora, union minister of state for communications and Information Technology and Madhu Chavan, Member of the Legislative Assembly, both belonging to the Congress party.
The inauguration ceremony for the proposed gate was held near the site on March 17, 2012 in the presence of Chavan, other leaders of the Congress party and dignitaries from the Maharashtra Housing Area and Development Authority, as per a write-up received by Parsiana from the RBA. Rustom Sethna, RBA president launched the ceremony, while Rustom Jasoomoney, president of Sir Ness Wadia Club thanked Chavan for being accessible to the RBA "at any time of day or night.” He recalled that Chavan had been instrumental in the resurfacing of all the roads inside Jer Baug from his funds and assured him and his party unflinching support of residents of both colonies, the write-up mentions.

In his speech Chavan appreciated that everyone in India has the "highest regards” for the Parsi community which lives in peace and harmony with everybody and whose contribution to the country is laudable. He cited the example of the late Aspi Dapodiwalla who had for years volunteered for traffic management duty near the Gloria Church without any expectation of monetary reward. Chavan said that Deora had "especially directed him to ensure that all possible assistance be given to the Parsi community in his constituency.” Admiring the clean and healthy environment maintained in Rustom Baug and Jer Baug, Chavan said he was proud that such pockets exist amid crowded and polluted surroundings.
Kumi Daroowala, doyenne of the RBA blessed the Congress party and stressed the need for selfless service to society regardless of caste or creed. Many Rustom Baug residents were present at the ceremony despite the very short notice, including Bombay Parsi Punchayet trustee Yazdi Desai and his wife Anahita, Vispi Dastur, Hutoxi Doodhwala and committee members of RBA. Jasoomoney thanked Ronnie P. Bugwadia, general secretary, Block No 18 of Congress (I) for his tireless and constant rapport with the party office and for vigorously pursuing the project for the betterment of Rustom Baug and Jer Baug, reveals the write-up.
