“Support Nargol priest”

The World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust (WZOT) takes this opportunity to provide an update (as on June 12, 2017) to individuals and institutions that have magnanimously sent donations towards the treatment of Ervad Sohrab Bharucha ("Support Nargol priest,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, May 21, 2017) who had met with a major accident on April 23 at Nargol, sustaining severe injuries to his head and brain.
Whilst still in ICU at Saifee Hospital, Bharucha is showing slow but steady improvement. He is unable to speak due to the tubes inserted in his neck but has gradually begun to register things happening around him. He is made to stand but being unable to walk, is now made to sit on a wheelchair for short durations. He was, on June 11, given his first dose of oral food intake (watery kheer). He now receives physiotherapy twice every day. Within the next few days, doctors will begin removing the fluid that continues to accumulate in his brain. After this is done and the pipes have been removed, he will start receiving speech therapy.
One hundred and ninety-three donors from India and overseas have sent donations to WZOT amounting to a total of Rs 44,56,748 (USD 69,155). Additionally, his wife Dilnavaz has so far received around Rs 18,00,000 (USD 27,930) directly from various individuals. As against the funds collected, the total expenses at the hospital so far have amounted Rs 11,00,000 (USD 17,068).
Considering the amounts received and the expenses incurred, it appears at present that there would not be any need for additional funds.
