Adil Nargolwala, a keen sportsman, had an unusual request for the Pakistan security services at the India-Pakistan border. "Chatting with Pakistani security,” he informed them "of my keenness to run and requested that I be allowed to run the short distance between the border and the gurudwara… Though they said it was unusual and a first time, (they) happily agreed… Wearing my Super Sikh tee shirt I took off,” he mentioned in his Facebook post of January 25, 2023. There were hardly any people on that day, he observed, the place of worship was calm, serene and peaceful. The marathoner, who is also vice president of the Delhi Parsi Anjuman, stated that he prayed and did seva (community work) by shelling peas in the langar (community kitchen).

The Kartarpur Corridor, a visa-free border crossing connects the Kartarpur Sahib near Lahore in Pakistan to Gurudwara Dera Baba Nanak in India. The crossing permits devotees from India to freely visit the gurudwara in Kartarpur, 4.7 km from the India-Pakistan border on the Pakistani side. "Customs, immigration and security on both sides was seamless... My thanks to the government of both countries that made this happen…We need to see many more such initiatives and build trust amongst us,” he ended. The visa free facility started in 2019.
Located in Pakistan’s Punjab province, the shrine is believed to be built on the site where the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, settled and nurtured the Sikh community after his missionary travels to Haridwar, Mecca-Medina, Lanka and other places, and where he lived for 18 years until his death in 1539.
