It was interesting to note the intrigue and obsession of Noshir Khambatta with the character Sarastro in the opera The Magic Flute ("Mozart and Zoroaster,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, September 2003). It was some time ago that my son — a classical musician and a surgeon — after hearing Zauberflote in Salzburg two summers ago had a notion of a curious similarity between the names Sarastro of the opera, and Zoroaster.
