Way to wellness

It is safe for people of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, and offers a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of health issues, emphasized Farida Irani, a holistic health practitioner from Sydney when speaking on the advantages of Bowen therapy at Poona’s Jehangir Wellness Centre (JWC), a unit of Jehangir Hospital. The session on October 9, 2024 was part of JWC’s efforts towards harmonious alignment of the body, mind and soul with preventive health check-ups and a comprehensive approach to health.
A remedial technique that targets the body’s connective tissue (fascia), "Bowen therapy is designed to treat musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, using gentle, precise movements to stimulate the nervous system without forceful manipulation,” noted a press release from JWC.

Irani who is a senior Bowen instructor and runs a natural therapies clinic, Subtle Energies in Sydney, has been sharing her expertise in a voluntary capacity working with a dedicated team in India comprising Tejal Bhagat, Smita Sharma, Capt Ravi Raman and Zenobia Pajniger who regularly do Bowen therapy at JWC and treat patients from Jehangir Hospital seeking relief. Attempting to make a positive difference in people’s lives, Irani and her team have also been offering treatment in Bombay and Delhi, working with nongovernmental organizations and even a military hospital.
At the JWC session, a few participants related their experience with Bowen therapy. Ketaki Pimplekare, an artist and long-time advocate of the therapy, spoke about its benefits, while Arnavaz Damania, a prominent figure in women’s sports and founder of the Connecting NGO for suicide prevention, highlighted how this therapy helped alleviate her pain.
Positioning itself as a destination for those seeking a balanced, health-conscious lifestyle by embracing holistic treatment, JWC offers additional alternative therapies such as Bach, reflexology, acupuncture, chakra meditation and yoga to supplement conventional medical treatment.
