In order to publish more current Milestones information Parsiana is carrying the names of the deceased from the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) website bpp-
paidust.in and of those cremated and/or whose funerary ceremonies are performed at the Worli Prayer Hall. The names of those cremated are sent to us by Prayer Hall coordinator Ervad Framroze Mirza, by e-mail.
The last few names of those deceased in the end of June 2017 find mention here as well as those who passed away till July 9.
Five verses 44 was the ratio of births to deaths for the month of June. Nine of the 12 Zoroastrians who succumed to various diseases of the heart were over 80 years. While six patients each perished due to pneumonia/lung disease and cancer, five died due to old age/general debility and four to kidney failure. Diabetes, urosepsis, multi organ failure and urinary tract infection took two lives each. One each were victims of atheroscleosis (deposition of fatty substances in the arteries), liver disease, Parkinson’s disease, arteriosclerosis (degenerative arterial change associated with advancing age) and brain disease. The youngest and eldest to breath their last were females, at 65 and 97 years respectively. The mean age at death of Zoroastrians for June 2017 in Bombay was 83 years.
The data on births, marriages and deaths has been compiled from information supplied by various newsletters and anjumans in India and abroad, courts and hospitals. This information is not always complete or consistent: we are unable to carry data from areas where the anjumans do not furnish the particulars; the birth figures for Bombay are supplied by one hospital — births in suburban hospitals and private nursing homes are not included unless individuals send us information together with a copy of the birth certificate. There may be an inadvertent repetition of names in the marriage list when a civil marriage precedes a religious ceremony. The names of the deceased alongwith their ages, addresses and causes of deaths are forwarded to Parsiana by the BPP. The trust however notes that the information has not been verified or authenticated by them. In the break-up of deaths according to illnesses, especially of the elderly, death is often due to a combination of several diseases.
