Model cum actor Viraf Patel has envisioned a Parsi networking and matchmaking mobile app, Aapro App, hoping to launch it around the Parsi New Year, August 2016. The App will connect Parsis with other Parsis in their immediate vicinity and beyond, Patel mentions in an email sent to Parsiana. Primarily meant for youngsters to network with a view to marriage, the App could also be used for providing handy information on restaurants that serve Parsi bhonu, emergency numbers for hospitals with wards for Parsis and particulars of philanthropic organizations, mentions a report in Mid Day of January 20, 2016.

Working with a team comprising Poona based information technology and design firms Umeed Kothavala’s Extentia and Vishal Parpia’s Activelement, Patel has also roped in personalities like event manager Viraf Sarkari, comedian and television personality Cyrus Broacha, chartered accountant Xerxes Dastur and Capt Farhad Patel on the advisory board. Urging the community to join in the Aapro social media presence, comprising a Facebook page, Twitter account and YouTube channel as of now, and send in feedback on the not for profit venture, Patel notes that the App was first announced during the Iranshah Udvada Utsav on December 25, 2015. Broacha’s video message on Facebook has aroused much interest, he mentions.
