Homai Mehta remembered

Since "anniversaries are the opportunities to recollect our years gone through memories and to cherish them again,” the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Association of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals (IASAP) included a tribute to founder and president emeritus, the late Homai Mehta. An audiovisual presentation on Mehta was made by governing council (GC) member Joan Lobo on October 15, 2022 at Hotel Radisson Blu. A report of the event was sent to Parsiana by past president Zarine Commissariat. Homai’s husband Homi, who could not attend, sent a congratulatory message to members, delivered by the editor of their newsletter and past president Moti Vazifdar. "A large number of our members from Bombay headquarters and members from our chapters of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Delhi, Poona, Bangalore and Hyderabad participated,” she noted, adding that the chief guest was coach and fashion entrepreneur Gemini Dhar.

A welcome song was followed by an introduction of past presidents of IASAP, and the current six chapter chairpersons. Dhar released their golden jubilee souvenir, assisted by Vazifdar and president Kashmira Gamadia. The president and her GC members cut a cake to commemorate their milestone anniversary. Long-standing member and past president Jeroo Irani was recognized for her five-decade-long active membership of the Association.
"A short standup comedy item was given by Kajol Sreenivasan,” noted Commissariat. Lucky draws and an interactive item by members of the Poona chapter choreographed by their past chairperson Hyacinth Arya titled "IASAP India 50” on the Association’s half-century followed. GC member Rashna Ardeshir’s vote of thanks included the sponsors for the event.
"The celebration ended with dinner and dance and an assurance to live up to and work diligently along the ideals of IASAP,” noted Commissariat.
The other GC members of IASAP include immediate past president Edna Martis, honorary secretary Vijayalaxmi Amin and honorary treasurer Binaifer Daruwala.
