There has been progress in the ongoing work at the New Bombay Agiary. The slab of the agiary located immediately above the kebla is a floating slab from whose side smoke will be released into the atmosphere. The plank rests on the priests’ quarters that are being built behind the agiary and the sloping slab of the fire temple. The brick work has commenced and the adjoining plinth of the planned four-storey building built.
Work on this proposed building has not yet begun as we do not have a sponsor for the hall on the first floor. The second floor hall has been sponsored by Dara H. Hansotia in memory of his late wife Dr Mehroo Hansotia and will be named after her. We also require sponsors for the two floors of the proposed old age home.
Construction work in progress for the New Bombay agiary
The cost of the air-conditioned dining hall would be Rs 80,00,000 and that of the old age home is an estimated Rs 75,00,000 for the third floor and a similar amount for the fourth floor. We hope some good Samaritans come forward to sponsor these remaining three floors. Sponsors will be able to name the floors as per their wishes. Cheques may be sent to the New Bombay Zoroastrian Association Charitable Trust, C/o Sharukh Mahiar Doctor, Plot-179, Lane-F, Sector-8, Vashi, New Bombay 400703; mob: +91 9869016730.
