Eighteen children dressed as a pencil crayon, an Oktober fest barmaid, Tinkerbell, and a Victorian zombie among others, all between one and 11-and-a-half years of age, participated in the annual fancy dress competition at the Calcutta Parsee Club on February 18, 2018, Club member Jimbo Vatcha noted in an email to Parsiana. The contestants had to walk along a three-sided ramp, stopping on each side so that the viewers could examine their costumes minutely, halting longer in front of the judges, noted Vatcha. The judges for the event were Trista Madan, who is "well versed in stage costumes,” entrepreneur and jewelry designer Eina Ahluwalia, and school teacher Celine Dion.

The Sarah Oonvala Trophy for the best overall contestant was bagged by Fravash Jeejeebhoy togged as Ramses II; his sibling Rishad dressed as a lost maharaja walked away with the Aran J. Dastoor Trophy for the best overall runner up. "Beach babe” Ivaana Rabadi was the youngest to participate while Samara Mehta Vyas dressed as "Knight in shining armor” was the eldest. Oonwala, the first woman member of the Club in 1932 was instrumental in starting the children’s fancy dress competition, which even today is a fixture on their annual calendar.
