Unionized staff of The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital (PGH) will receive a monthly rise in salary ranging between Rs 3,900 and Rs 4,500 on average, agreed upon under a settlement signed on April 2, 2019 between the Hospital management and the Mumbai Mazdoor Sabha (MMS). The settlement will be effective for a three-year period, January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020, Dhunji Naterwalla, MMS general secretary informed Parsiana. Reimbursement under mediclaim has been increased by Rs 25,000 while reimbursements for funeral expenses of family members have been increased to Rs 5,000. Leave, paid holidays and other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Negotiations were held between PGH’s honorary secretary Hector Mehta and honorary treasurer Hoshang Sinor. MMS was represented by its president Chandbibi Zaidi and Naterwalla, the latter said.
The MMS has also concluded a settlement with the management of the nearby Breach Candy Hospital, with monthly increases of between Rs 9,174 and 11,000 on average. The MMS also represents the unionized staff of the funds-depleted Bombay Parsi Punchayet. A new wage agreement to take effect retrospectively from January 1, 2018 is pending negotiations. Arrears of revised wages will have to be paid retrospectively from that date.
