"I always wanted to win the title and worked hard towards it. I was also greatly supported by everyone around me, both on and off the track. At the same time God has been very kind. The horses have given everything they had. Without this, nothing would have been possible,” says Suratia. It is difficult to mention the names of all the people who have helped him, he adds, "but whatever I know today about riding a race horse has been taught to me by Shroff, who is my trainer and boss.” Suratia had the maximum wins, despite facing a short suspension and fine just before the season ended. Shortly thereafter Suratia won the first classic of his career, riding Amelia in The Fillies Championship Stakes (Grade 1) on June 16 in Bangalore. The filly was trained by Shroff.
