Dahanu’s fatal accident

Sixty-five-year-old Dahanu-based agriculturist Bomi Mubarakai  (pictured) died on March 10, 2019 and four other Dahanu residents were injured when a speeding dumper toppled on the vehicle he was driving, according to media reports. Mubarakai, his wife Gover and family friends Dr Merwan Irani, and Parivaz and Ronnie Irani were said to be returning from Parivaz’s niece’s wedding in Jaipur. The crash took place outside Dahanu.
Ronnie told Parsiana on March 28 that he had suffered fractures in five ribs and a punctured lung. He was treated at Bombay’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and is back home in Dahanu. Parivaz and Merwan are recuperating at the Hospital, he informed us. Gover was treated for injuries at Dahanu.
The mid-day of March 11 reported that the driver and helper of the dumper had absconded.  Eye-witness and complainant Laxman Dongarkar told the newspaper that the offending vehicle had earlier brushed his car. "Two bikers following my car fell into the (ditch) and sustained minor injuries. The Irani family was following the bikers. When the dumper driver applied the emergency brake, it toppled and fell on the car,” he said.
Gover is a speech therapist (see "Help for the handicapped,” Parsiana, April 21, 2016). Parivaz and Ronnie used to run the popular Pearline seaside resort in the north Maharashtra town known for its chikoo orchards (see "The portals of Pearline,” Parsiana, August 7, 2014). The couple has recently opened a new eatery named Ronnie’s in Dahanu. Merwan practices as a gynecologist in Dahanu.
