Beautician Jasmine Gimi of Nagpur, who recently conducted a four-day workshop for a group of 24 deaf girls on how to run a successful beauty parlour, explains she got involved in the project after "the Sir Gangadharrao Chitnavis Memorial Medical Research Trust had heard about me and approached me. I was happy to help.” The girls had already undergone a governmental beautician’s course facilitated by the Trust and "they only wanted me to give some finishing tips,” she explains modestly, as some of them aspire to be business people.

Gimi owns and runs a salon in the Civil Lines area of Nagpur, for the last 19 years. Responding to Parsiana’s email queries, she writes, "It’s (the) mind that helps us achieve great heights in life. I understood this on a different degree when I came across (this) group… Sometimes people who are blessed with a good life complain about small issues in life… these women are an inspiration… we need to understand them better and try to (adapt to) their ways and not the other way around.”
Reminiscing about her father Nozer Irani of Dahanu, she was quoted on digital newspaper nationtext.in: "I would (swim) and (drive) with my father. He would even do horse riding. (Never did I realize) he was suffering from polio. This is the attitude... We should carry on. We should keep chasing our dreams.”
