I am almost certain that I echo every Parsiana reader’s sentiments when I say that a Parsiana issue without a Berjis Desai column is like a wedding patru without the lagan nu custard.
Every article of his is a keepsake. That particular piece "Of lahuvaas, haandaas, fituris and kaklaats (Bawa Musings, Parsiana, 
April 7, 2017) was an absolute classic though! What an utterly ‘howlarious,’ outrageously mad piece of writing! His timeless wit flows from his powers of observation and what a lethal combination that makes.
In so far as chronicling the traits, quirks and foibles of our fast diminishing community is concerned, Desai is truly second to none. Easily, one of ours, and India’s finest humorists/essayists ever, and I say this in full consciousness without a trace of exaggeration. For in saying so, I am thinking of legends like Busybee and Adil Jussawalla. That his wit isn’t more widely known outside the tiny, claustrophobic bawa circle has got to be a grave tragedy of sorts.
I do hope someone makes an effort to help him compile and publish all his brilliant pieces into a book. Even a website with all his work in one place would be a great place to start. Those essays of his are a community heritage no less important than our baugs; possibly the few things posterity will remember us by. And I hope Desai is reading this suggestion from a masoor pao (lentils and bread) Parsi from Valsad and Thana so that he may be inspired to do something about it.
