“Of greater import”

On two counts I found Parsiana of June 21, 2018 most fascinating: For the first time I read ("Of greater import,” Editorial Viewpoint) of the quantification of footfalls in the various agiaries in the country — 22% of the agiaries in Bombay and a staggering 64% of those outside Bombay hardly have a footfall in a year. Bharuch, with a Parsi population of under 150 has four agiaries. Is it rational to retain all four? Delhi with a population of 600 to 900 Parsis manages very well with one. Surely such assets can be better managed for the welfare of our community. We need to come away from the past and think differently for a better future. A strong leadership is called for to show the way forward. From my point of view, the greatest problem facing the community today is how to retain our assets in a scenario of diminishing numbers.   I was also delighted to read that the Zoroastrians of Kurdistan were invited to the recently concluded 11th World Zoroastrian Congress in Perth ("Premier in Perth”). The need of the hour is to unite the Zoroastrians of the world under one banner.                            YEZAD KAPADIA                                                                      Delhi yezad.kapadia@gmail.com  ...
