Keeping Udvada clean

The Clean and Green Charitable Trust, commonly known as Clean and Green Udvada, has undertaken a cleanliness drive outside the Doongerwadi in Udvada Gaam, which falls under the Kolak Gram panchayat, states trustee Neville Velati.  Also, the Atul Foundation and Taluka Panchayat have joined forces with the Trust to launch an initiative for segregating dry and wet waste in the region. The Trust is hopeful that this will promote sustainable waste management practices, reduce environmental degradation and foster a culture of responsibility among residents.   Top: cleanliness drive outside Udvada’s Doongerwadi;    above: Clean and Green Charitable Trust supporters The Trust expressed gratitude to Tata Power for a donation of Rs 25 lakhs to establish a power grid near the dumping site and is on the lookout for philanthropists who would contribute to procuring a waste recycling machine to reduce pollution. The Trust also collects discarded materials such as old clothes, religious items and unwanted textiles so that they are not dumped in water bodies or landfills, which helps reduce the carbon footprint and preserve the environment. ...
