"The embroidery is distinct… with the lotus flowers and birds… Lotus is a key part of the iconography of the (Indian) Constitution borders in calligraphy,” said Dr Shernaz Cama, Parzor director. She was communicating with Parsiana about Parzor’s exhibit at the Hamari Virasat (Our heritage) exhibition at the India Habitat Centre, Delhi from March 7-17, 2024, an event that brought different craft traditions together to create a traveling show on the Constitution through craft.

Featuring 75 different artworks in distinct styles woven together to represent unity in diversity, the exhibition celebrated the 75th year of the Indian Constitution with art that is inspired by the iconography of the Preamble to the Constitution and the values enshrined therein, stated their press release. "It shines a spotlight on the artisanal sector and revels in our rich heritage,” said Cama. "We were proud to participate in this unique event… (The exhibit) is based on the Parsi embroidery tradition, as part of the rich tapestry of Indian crafts.”

Enshrined in our Constitution are all the best aspects that make up the crafts of India, noted Cama. "Individual freedom of expression, diversity and dignity while working together for the people are important aspects of our Constitution as well as our craft traditions,” she stated. Hamari Virasat is an initiative of the Hand For Handmade Foundation (HFHF), initially launched in Bombay. After a show in Ahmedabad the exhibition came to Delhi.
"We launched (the exhibition) to highlight India’s artisan sector and its pivotal role in nation-building and empowering women,” said Shibani Dasgupta Jain, founder of HFHF. Vinita Gursahani Singh, Founder of We, the People Abhiyan and knowledge partner for Hamari Virasat added, "The diversity and craftsmanship in the Indian artisan sector mirrors the Constitution’s ideals of liberty, fraternity, justice, and equality.”
"Parzor represents the Parsis and their art, culture and unique style while melding into our country and its core constitutional values and traditions,” stated Cama.
