"Ready to protect what protects you,” states a short video on the website godrej.com about Godrej and Boyce’s (G&B) introduction of their range of ultra-low temperature freezers. The products are particularly suited to the extremely temperature-sensitive 
vaccines for coronavirus that need to be stored at very cold temperatures, below -80°C, to prevent wastage. The current manufacturing capacity for these freezers is 12,000 units per year; the company reportedly intends to increase output to 30,000 units per annum.
The products will take "a step further towards building the nation’s healthcare infrastructure,” noted a press release on their website dated February 9, 2021. The freezers are aimed at boosting both Indian and global medical cold chains. The Godrej Appliances unit of G&B currently deploys vaccine refrigerators which maintain a temperature of 2 to 8°C to store Covaxin and Covishield vaccines being manufactured and administered in India. Medical freezers which maintain -20°C are also being deployed for certain products like diluents and ice packs needed for the last mile delivery in the Covid vaccination drive, stated the company’s communication.
