After perusing the quotation from the Gatha Yasna 45.2 (Parsiana, July 7, 2013) which reads: "I shall tell you now of the Two Spirits at the beginning of Creation. The Holier of the two thus speaks to the Evil One: ‘Neither our thoughts, nor our teachings, Neither intentions nor choices, Neither our words nor our deeds, Neither our consciences nor our souls ever agree,’” a thought occurred to me.
One of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trustees told the others: "Neither our thoughts, nor our teachings, neither intentions, nor choices, neither our words nor deeds neither our consciences nor our souls ever agree but we are still on the same board as trustees. How are we managing? Is it not a miracle?”
Another replied: "It is because if we don’t hang together we shall hang separately and so we are a miracle even after Noshir Dadrawala’s unceremonious exit and our gross mismanagement.”
Firstly, banning the "renegade” priests was nothing but a publicity stunt to derive mileage by touting their fictitious choost Zarthostipanu (devout Zoroastrianism). Though Guruji Khojeste Mistree has stated in no uncertain terms that use of solar panels amounts to cremation, it still continues and will continue even after the gheedhras (vultures) are re-introduced.
As for chairman Dinshaw Mehta’s pains, even junior lawyers do not come cheap. If not crores, the legal fees will amount to lakhs. Kaun na baap ni Diwali (Who will foot the bill?) Mehta should come clean and tell the community how much money has been squandered in each legal matter. The community has the right to know how the trust’s money is being spent.
As for redevelopment in Nowroz and Panthaky Baugs, these are big ticket operations. The realty business is a gold mine with a lot of malai (cream) to be made. Even politicians, directly or by proxy, are in the business. That apart, these flats are for poor Parsis whose monthly income is Rs 90,000, and not for others whose annual income exceeds that.
Since only two years remain for the next election, I am going to put on my thinking cap and prepare my menu for liquids and solids, for attending meetings, for election days and victory celebrations. It is common knowledge that our candidates do not lag behind politicians when it comes to spending at election time. So I am starting in right earnest. Of course, suggestions are most welcome for the menus.
