To encourage giving

XYZ (Xtremely Young Zoroastrians) founder president Hoshaang Gotla remembered a carton of unused cooking utensils, spoons, ladles and cutlery items that his relatives did not want to dispose of while driving past a pavement dweller cooking a meal in a dented aluminum vessel over a brick stove. This prompted Gotla to spearhead a door-to-door drive asking residents for unused cooking utensils to raise funds, he told Parsiana on January 24, 2019.
A collection drive is planned, between February 10-March 10 in schools where current and past members of XYZ study or studied, he informed us. On February 24, approximately 200 children between five and 15 who are part of XYZ will scour 25 locations door-to-door in specified areas. "Twelve to 15 nongovernmental organizations, orphanages, old age homes and animal shelters have been organized in each area.” They will take the vessels and handle them appropriately, he said. Scrapture artist Arzan Khambatta has offered to teach the children to create a piece of art from a portion of the utensils collected, Gotla noted.
Khambatta told Parsiana on January 27 that his mentorship in the making of the scrapture would ensure that the children "are not only a part of the collection but also of the creative process. We will need to design the piece after we have an idea as to what vessels we have on hand. The more diverse, the better,” he said.
On October 2, 2018, XYZ children went door to door collecting footwear. "We had hoped to collect about 3,000 pairs. We ended up collecting 12,199,” Gotla told us. Having read about the efforts of the children in the Press, Tata Consultancy Services chipped in and offered 3,000 pairs and added school uniforms for deprived children as well, he explained.
