"We decided against having a function at the Parsi Club (for Parsi New Year). The Club has been closed to members since March last year… We distributed to every member family a very substantial hamper of snacks, savories, sweets and dry fruits all in a very attractive package. This was an effort of the Madras Parsi Association,” noted honorary secretary Zarin Mistry. Their last function at the Club was a gahanbar in February 2020.
Gifts for the Madras community and 111-year-old Jal Phiroj Clubwala Dar-e-Meher
Since they recently lost a senior member of the community, Rusi Dastur, trustee of the Jal Phiroj Clubwala Dar-e-Meher, the New Year showing of Sillypoint Productions’s Pretty Boman featuring Boman Irani was rescheduled to August 22, 2021. A jashan on Parsi New Year Day was broadcast on Zoom to members. About seven community members were present at the Dar-e-Meher and about 15-20 participated online, she said.
The Dar-e-Meher turned 110 years old last year. "However, we could not celebrate the occasion. This year, to mark the 111th anniversary on July 10, 2021, the trustees held a jashan which was also broadcast over Zoom. Every member family was gifted a beautiful toran of glass beads,” Mistry noted.
