Soured relations

A family spat between the partners of the iconic Parsi Dairy Farm (PDF) has resulted in one of the family being arrested. According to newspaper reports, partner Urvaksh Hoyvoy has been charged with cheating and forgery. The dispute is over a 300-acre family plot at Talasari on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. The matter of contention is the alleged forgery of a power of attorney (POA) in January 2007, which was neither registered with the sub-registrar nor had stamp duty been paid. Hoyvoy has been accused of converting the agricultural land into non-agricultural without the knowledge of the partners. He is then alleged to have sold portions of the plot to investors. Additionally, based on a petition filed by the partners in the Bombay High Court against Hoyvoy, Justice Sharukh Kathawala directed Hoyvoy to disclose if he had created any third party rights on the land or received any money based on the POA and directed him to disclose all transactions since the date he was made a partner in PDF.   ...
