Feroze Gandhi remembered

The Parsi graveyard in Allahabad where politician (and grandfather of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka) Feroze Gandhi was buried reportedly received an unintended sprucing up on March 20, 2019 by members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the ruling political party at the center. The youngsters paid floral tributes at his grave and "cleaned the cemetery,” reported The Times of India dated March 22. The activists were protesting that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra did not visit Feroze’s grave while on a visit to the city. They accused her of "playing the Hindu card in view of the Lok Sabha elections.” Priyanka’s grandmother Indira Gandhi was a Hindu and a former prime minister of India.
Gandhi relative and Allahabad resident Rustom Gandhi, when asked by Parsiana if he knew about the spring-cleaning at the aramgah, replied, "Not to my knowledge.” Some of the graves in the burial ground were earlier partly vandalized and the boundary walls weakened due to illegal storage and sale of sand and bricks on the road adjoining the aramgah, Rustom had stated in a letter to Parsiana (see "Graveyard encroachers?” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, October 21, 2018).
