“The engine driver’s curse”

The inimitable Berjis Desai slips up every time he tells a story involving the railways. He has once again suffered "The engine driver’s curse” (Navsari Tales, Parsiana, February 21-March 6, 2021). Navsari was on the Bombay, Baroda & Central India Railway, not the Great Indian Peninsula. It was never a crew change station nor did it have a running shed for changing express train engines. Those were done at Bulsar or Surat. And I am surprised about the story of the driver regularly jumping from his own engine at Maroli and leaving the "senior foreman” to drive it to Navsari.......
