WZO Covid relief

The second Covid wave that began from mid-March 2021 has hit members of our community very severely. Realizing that many in the community have been adversely affected The WZO Trust Funds and The World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust have raised funds and provided relief to several individuals between April 2021 and June 7, 2021. A sum of Rs 92,44,309 was used to help 313 needy persons. The break-up of beneficiaries is: 82 mobeds received a total of Rs 20,50,000; 40 self-employed persons received Rs 8,50,000; Rs 27,25,000 was expended  on 117 salaried employees; 14 farmers were given a total of Rs 3,40,000; Rs 33,09,000 was spent on 32 persons in need of medical assistance; and 28 others received Rs 5,70,000. This relief was made possible entirely due to generous donations received from the Zoroastrian Charity Funds of Hong Kong, Canton and Macao. Just to mention, Covid related expenses in Karachi have been astronomical. 48 lacs was the bill of one single patient here and collectively settled by our generous trusts. Since then quite a few running into lacs each have also been settled by our trusts.
