“Behen, beti bachao”

The last sentence of the item "Behen, beti bachao” (Events and Personalities, Parsiana, November 21, 2014) reads: "Anyone for a Parsi Bachao Samiti (BS)?” Considering the manner in which trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) are treating employees of the trust, what is really required is a BPP Employees Bachao Committee. Senior managers are resigning claiming they are unable to follow contradictory orders given by the trustees. The best solution would be for the Charity Commissioner to remove all the BPP trustees and appoint an administrator who would be asked to carry out a forensic audit of the accounts. Elections for the new trustees should be held as quickly as possible. Sitting trustees and their relatives/associates should not be permitted to stand for election. A new scheme of election with a code of conduct should be ushered in and no person be permitted to remain a BPP trustee for more than three years. Only those between the ages of 50 and 60 years should be allowed to stand for elections. JAL S. DESAI ...
