Around 15 years ago while researching the Parsi settlers of Delhi during the early or mid-Mughal period I chanced upon the fact that the first Parsis arrived in Simla in the early or mid-1830s, in the Himalayan foothills situated at a height of 8,000 ft above sea level which in 1817 was described as "a middling-sized village where a fakir is situated to give water to the travelers.”
