The Parsi graveyard in Mumfordganj, Allahabad is being allegedly illegally encroached upon by a group of local antisocial elements who sit there and indulge in gambling, liquor and drugs. The caretaker is threatened if he objects.
The grave of Feroze Gandhi, freedom fighter and husband of the late prime minister Indira Gandhi, also appears to be damaged. It is not known whether this is a mindless act or is motivated by some political group or party.
Clockwise from above l: grave of Feroze Gandhi; Parsi cemetery in Allahabad;
piling of bricks outside aramgah wall
Sand, bricks, etc are illegally stored for sale on the road adjoining the aramgah boundary wall, weakening our wall.
Immediate corrective action is required to ensure safety of the property and the graves of respected freedom fighters and other eminent persons.
