Supreme Court (SC) Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman (pictured) has been appointed as chairperson of the apex court’s Legal Services Committee, according to news reports. The announcement was made via a notification from the union ministry of law and justice. The Committee is empowered to maintain panels of advocates and senior advocates on record in the SC; to receive and scrutinize applications for service and the granting and withdrawal of service among others, noted the website.  Nariman takes over the position following the retirement of controversial Justice Arun Mishra who had held the post since November 2019.
