BPP October elections

The next trusteeship elections will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 the trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) reportedly decided, at a meeting on July 22. A detailed program will be drawn up shortly as per the scheme of elections. Two trusteeship seats are up for contest. These follow the death of BPP trustee Zarir Bhathena who died on June 24, 2020 and BPP chairman Yazdi Desai who resigned on December 23, 2020 following a stroke in April 24 that year. Among the expected contestants are Desai’s wife, Anahita and Cusrow Baug United Sports and Welfare League honorary secretary Hoshang Jal. Both are considered favorites. Noted lawyer and columnist Berjis Desai is not expected to stand. The elections had been initially scheduled for March 14, 2021 but under the ostensible guise of the pandemic were postponed by the majority three trustees to May 23.
