Two successful Zoroastrian mountaineers, Dr Murad Lala and Piruzan Sarosh Rustomfram, were felicitated by the Zoroastrian Club of Secunderabad and Hyderabad at its New Year celebrations on August 18, 2013, mentions an email received by Parsiana from Ervad Mehernosh H. Bharucha, president of the Club. Lala is the first Indian doctor and the first Parsi to summit Mount Everest on May 19, 2013 as part of the multinational team of Peakfreaks that spent about six weeks at the Everest base camp for training and acclimatization prior to the safe and successful push for the summit. He was presented a beautifully designed trophy by Bharucha. Rustomfram, the 28-year-old adventure sports enthusiast from Hyderabad had successfully scaled Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania on July 30, 2012 under trying conditions. Vice president of the Club Dhunji Mistry gave him a specially designed trophy, notes the email.

On the occasion Zoroastrian Club also honored three young students who have excelled in the academic field. Nazneen Keki Irani, Peenaz Meherwan Asudaria and Adarvan Dinyar Baria were felicitated by the Club’s honorary secretary Lt Col (Retd) Aspi Eduljee, honorary treasurer Percy Daver and managing committee member Daisy Chenoy respectively.
The evening, which began with housie "without which no evening for the Parsis of the twin cities is ever complete,” ended with an elaborate dinner catered by Keki Irani, the email concludes.
