When Farhad Bharucha’s business of trading in embroidered fabrics took a down turn in 2016-17, his wife Jasmine’s hobby of crafting personalized envelopes for gifting stood the couple in good stead. Sales were only within the community and to friends, he told Parsiana on January 3, 2020. "Gradually, we ventured into gift items such as digitally printed decorative plates,” and sold them via social networking platforms. Since then, the duo has ventured into decorative lamps. Nephew Ashtad Kohinoor, a mechanical engineering student assists Farhad with the technical aspects of the creation of lamps marketed on social media as Classic Creations. The decorative plates and lamps, many with a Zoroastrian theme, sell for between Rs 800 and Rs1,200 each. "I continue to operate my modest embroidery business, also under the same name, at Vikhroli,” he said about his trading business that mainly exports to West Africa.

The 39-year-old started his career with selling typewriters; he then took up a sales job in Cadbury, selling Dollops icecream. He was "compelled to join Swadeshi Mills to be able to continue living in the same house allotted to his father Rusi.” When the Mills were shut down, Bharucha started work in a private firm that manufactured embroidered fabrics. After a 14-year stint with them in various functions, ("peon to president”) Farhad stated that he was confident to branch out on his own.
